SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov Backing Small Business Grant Presented by Main Street America and American Express - Closing Soon on April 7 Presented by Main Street America: In 2021, American Express and Main Street America created the Backing Small Businesses grant program to help under-resourced and economically vulnerable small business owners recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and grow their businesses. In its first year, the program awarded $1.65 million in grants to 330 small business owners nationwide, and in its second year the program awarded over $2.3 million in grants to an additional 350 businesses. Now in its third year, the program will increase grants awarded and double total funding to more than $5.7 million to further support under-resourced and economically vulnerable small business owners in building their economic vitality and fostering a thriving community. In March 2024, applications will open for 500 small business grants of $10,000 to eligible businesses in the U.S. and U.S. territories. Our Small Business Spotlight This Week is Little Sprouts School in Smyrna! Little Sprouts School is a woman-owned small business, home-based preschool located in the heart of Smyrna, DE. They serve children ages 3-5 years and offer both a preschool and pre-k program with a half day or 2/3 day option. Little Sprouts places a huge emphasis on outdoor learning and nature play, as well as a strong focus on social-emotional learning. Little Sprouts is a unique place to learn and grow as it is only a preschool, and does not offer full-day childcare. Owner and operator, Kristen was recently nominated and won the Home-Based Educator of the Year for the DIEEC (Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood). She was also the recipient of the Let’s Go Outside grant, again through the DIEEC, which is aimed towards bringing the classroom outside and getting children immersed in nature and nature play. The grant is allowing her to expand and enhance Little Sprouts current outdoor nature classroom.
