February 22, 2024 Ports of Philadelphia Maritime Society Opens 2024 Scholarship Program Founded in 1935, the Ports of Philadelphia Maritime Society has awarded scholarships to Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey residents or employees seeking education and advancement in the local maritime industry since 2012. The society is pleased to announce the opening of the 2024 scholarship program. Up to six scholarships in the amount of $3,500 each were approved for this year. Three categories of scholarships are available: 1. Industry degree (current or future college/academy student) – Tuition for post high school student in a degree program at a higher education marine, maritime, engineering, naval architecture, transportation, or logistics institution. Scholarship funds will be applied directly to the institution specified. 2. Mariner advancement – Tuition and expenses toward U.S. Coast Guard required training for an original credential, license, or upgrade (not renewals). 3. Professional development – Tuition and expenses toward a certificated professional development course in marine, maritime, or port-related subjects and/or employment. Applications are available here.
